Went to this place when we were walking around old Montreal; honestly wasn't expecting that much but it turned out to be the best experience of our weekend there. The proprietor is a lovely woman from France who does it all; cooking, serving, hostessing, entertaining. She recommended some stellar wine to go with our food.We got the cheese plate and it was a great way to start the meal. My entree was tortellini in some sort of a vodka sauce and it was unreal.Additionally the vibes of the place are so nice, with the exposed brick and laid back atmosphere. It's the kind of place you can spend 2-3 hours at just eating and drinking wine and coffee and chatting (which coincidentally we did...)Highly recommend this place if you end up in Montreal for anything!

Just had a really good meal here. I don't usually post reviews but the owner went out of her way to help as I had a three year old and a six month old and truly felt like I was eating in her own home. The lamb stew was delicious! If I was spending more time in Montreal I would definitely come back. The ambience was perfect.

Nice place to eat in Old Montreal. Waiter was super friendly and made lots of suggestions. We had soup, main course (lamb stew, veal liver) and one desert (sweet apple). Drinks and beer was ordered as well. It took time to cook all of out staff but it was worth the wait as meals were delicious. 2 adults with 2 kids ended up spending close to $100 USD but everyone was happy. Place got full as frequented by locals.

Charming restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service.Le Bourlingueur, in Old Montreal, is a small restaurant in a cozy way. Wonderful service from the dining room. And from the way the food was served and how it tasted, the kitchen staff would seem to be just as efficient and proficient. We had ample time to leisurely enjoy our meal as dishes appear on the table with excellent timing and at proper temperature.Totally enjoyed almost everything...- Salade verti was fresh and crisp with a light lemon dressing that made the dish extra tasty- Escargots a p’aie was excellent with the toasted baguette- Saumon fume was notable for the chutney on toast, the saumon was ok; it wasn’t bad, but with how delicious everything else was, this item is not complementary to the other dishes or the meal- Mille feuille de betterave (beets layered with goat cheese) was excellent, and also another very pleasant discovery; beet and goat cheese are delicious togetherIf tilapia is on the menu, that is a good choice. Very tender and flavorful.Boudin noir aux pommels was notable for the apple sauce. The sausage was tasty, but the apple sauce, with the sausage or as is, was amazing. Perfect texture and flavor.Excellent meal!

I had the escargot appetizer and the quiche Lorraine as a main. The escargot were very good and the quiche was pretty much one quarter of the entire quiche plate. Really good wines, attentive service , nice ambience. Next time I'm in Old City Montreal I would go back for sure.

We had a very disappointing meal here on a busy Saturday afternoon in November: 2 of our 3 soups were not hot, and my vegetable option" tasted suspiciously liked tinned tomato soup - very acidic. My daughter's friend's pork roast entree was dry and almost inedible

Turned up at the door and the place was packed, but they managed to put together a table for us. The inside is simple but nice. The service was very friendly, although it was very slow which was disappointing - we had to ask for bread whilst everyone around us was getting theirs. The food was nice though - not brilliant but nice.
