Horse riding

My daughter has had riding camps there twice so far, and is now taking lessons there as well with one of their awesome groupon deals. I was riding when I was much younger and watching her made me wish I would do it myself so I signed up as well for the classes. I had a lot of riding classes in the past and found this one outstanding. There are a lot of riding teachers that are not so friendly (we bought a riding voucher for another stable a few years back and actually decided not to return do to the unfriendly instructor there plus the horses were really hard to ride.. typical 'school horses'). I haven't really ridden in quite a while (and am around 50 with a few to many lbs) and was a bit nerveous starting joining the class but was pleasantly surprised of the age mix in this class (didn't stick out like a sore thumb). It was a real workout and there was no problem for me taking a break stopping in the middle for a while while the class continued to catch my breath. The instructors where really good explaining everything to the riders, no yelling, more suggesting and with explanations about horse behaviour/safety why things should be done that way. Five star does a lot of different age groups and seam to have horses suitable for all levels of experience. I am looking forward to the next class and after the 10 weeks, hopefully a bit more stamina to keep up for the entire hour of riding. There were some bad reviews from a few years back and I was wondering and asking how they came about, apparently the management has since changed. I can recommend Five Star Ranch and am sure any level rider will have a great experience taking lessons or going on a trail ride.

Marianne is an amazing coach!! In one evaluation lesson I learned more than I did in 3 lessons at a different riding school. She is very highly qualified and I can feel the difference in the coaching and in my own abilities. Marianne made me feel encouraged and motivated! I love that she pushes riders out of their comfort zone to do things independently.The farm is also gorgeous! Every part of the farm is beautiful, well kept, and clean. The horses are very well groomed and are also very well trained to respond to instruction.The training for both horses and riders ensures that the rider and horse maintain balance from left to right which in the long run prevents injuries and imbalances in both the rider and the horse. Learned this from Marianne!The prices are very reasonable as well. Overall I would highly recommend this beautiful farm and can't wait to continue to ride here!

I can without any hesitation say that the coaches at Old Orchard Farm are incredible. They are talented, experienced, supportive and knowledgable. The facility is an amazing mix of older barn and new barn with approximately 115 acres of stunning landscape. The jumps are expertly constructed - for cross country and stadium. The small ring in the lesson barn has teaching aids to support the youngest and oldest beginners. The horses and ponies that are used in the schooling program also range from completely beginner friendly, bomb proof and gentle - to appropriately challenging for advanced riders of ALL disciplines. The facility is well maintained and organized. Safety is of great importance and Linda and the staff lead by example with expert horsemanship.The schooling show series is one of the best in the area and OOF has been praised by coaches, athletes and spectators for how well run the shows are - how supportive and friendly the staff and volunteers are.Pentathlon Canada and the Canadian Pony Club have both run successful regional, provincial and National events at Old Orchard. The Ontario University Equestrian Association has also run divisional and provincial competitions at Old Orchard - and the coaches as well as the horses have been recognized for their achievements.Old Orchard Farm is an unbelievable TOP NOTCH facility and has been the best choice my family made five years ago to have our children take lessons, attend clinics, compete in shows and attend training camps.

I am very unhappy. I purchased a groupon in the spring. I was told that I could use the groupon for lessons in the fall. Now I find out that you will no longer be offering lessons. No one called me to refund my money. I have called and left messages and no one has called me back. I guess you have no problem taking money from people and provide no service.Thank you for letting me know you were no longer giving lessons. It is now too late to sign up somewhere else. My little girl was in tears

Plus, the gift shop has an amazing array of delightful, locally-sourced and hand-crafted gifts for every occasion. I wish I would have stopped in to meet owners Donna and Tom years ago! They are welcoming, friendly and honest local folk supporting our greater equestrian community! What could be better? I'm telling everyone about Beaumont's best kept secret.

I absolutely LOVE this horse tack shop. There are so many unique horse related gifts that I wish I could be there all the time. The owner Donna is the warmest, friendliest and very knowledge lady you can ever meet. Tack n Things is right on the out skirts of Beaumont and is right next to Kel-J-Do Riding School, which is the best horse riding school I have ever known!!!
